My name is Wesley Cooper, and I am honored to serve as the assistant principal at Morgan County Elementary School. I grew up in Augusta, Georgia, and after graduating from Westside High School, I enrolled in the University of Georgia Honors Program, where I majored in Economics through the Terry College of Business. Immediately after graduation, I worked in college ministry in Athens before returning to Augusta to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching at Augusta University. During this time, I taught at the middle school level and coached at the high school level. I furthered my education by earning an Educational Specialist degree in Mathematics Education, and I am currently completing my Doctorate in Mathematics Education at Kennesaw State University. Additionally, I obtained my Tier I Leadership Certificate from the University of West Georgia and a Gifted Endorsement from Northeast Georgia RESA. Throughout my career, I have taught all grades K-8 across all core content areas, including general education, special education, and gifted education along with tutoring high school and university students.
My wife, Kaylee Cooper, opened the Benchmark Physical Therapy clinic in Madison approximately seven years ago, while I was teaching in Athens. Though she is no longer at that location, she always spoke highly of the community and shared positive feedback about the local schools, which inspired me to explore opportunities within this district. After teaching math at the middle school for four years, I transitioned to the role of Academic Coach for my final two years at Morgan County Middle School. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Morgan County Charter School System and am eager to partner with MCES families to ensure our students achieve their full potential.
My wife and I have a daughter named Lily June (LJ), who is currently in Kindergarten at MCPS, and a son named Cy, who is not yet in school.
