MCCS Para-to-Teacher Program
If you are a paraprofessional with Morgan County Charter Schools and are considering pursuing a teacher education program while continuing your job as a paraprofessional, please review and follow the process described below before committing to a program. MCCS will only support candidates who enroll in one of the four partnership programs and who get pre-approval from the district. MCCS will not pay tuition or fees for any program or candidate.
Partnering universities are as follows:
Georgia Southwestern State University
Mercer University
Middle Georgia State University
Piedmont University
Valdosta State University
Research the partnering universities and decide which might be the best fit for you before you complete the MCCS Para to Teacher Program Application and before you apply to a program. Note that you must serve as a paraprofessional in the field in which you are applying for certification. Also note that all programs require three (3) internship components, the third being student teaching full-time for a full semester.
Complete the MCCS Para to Teach Program Application by April 1st for decisions for the following school year. Please note that participating in the MCCS Para-to-Teacher Program does not guarantee a teaching position upon completion of your program.
Internal approval must be obtained before a paraprofessional enrolls in a program for MCCS to accommodate the requirements. If a paraprofessional enrolls in a program without prior approval, she/he will need to resign from her/his position as a paraprofessional in order to complete required internships in the programs.
